My training system, A Million Styles Boxing, and I, Coach Barry Robinson, have been in this business 10-12 years. I don’t remember exact dates because it’s been an international blur. I have worked with 1000+ different athletes ranging from beginners to World Champs, coaches and fitness enthusiast alike.

People sometimes irritate me because they have no idea what I’m about or what my system is about and resort to gossip and low level conversations that are in no way contributing to Martial Arts on an intellectual level.

A Million Styles Boxing has never been about making friends or lying to people with bullshit marketing schemes like selling the technique of the month. We’ve made a few enemies, however we’ve also attracted like minded thinkers and that’s who we prefer to continually connect with going forward.

Muay Thai Pioneer, Kevin Ross, had this to say about our time training together in California recently.
“Been an honor getting to work with Barry @iamamsb over the last month πŸ™ It’s always a tough thing trying to get quality boxing instruction from a coach without them trying to turn you into a traditional boxer, which when it comes to Muay Thai/Kickboxing/MMA, will leave you with a lot of habits that are going to get you hurt, but Barry has so much experience working with all manner of striking athletes that he’s able to translate his boxing knowledge, which is vast, into what will work best in your particular sport, as well as your individual style. Can’t thank him enough and really looking forward to putting all my new tools on display for @bellatorkb which my next fight should be announced shortly πŸ˜ŠπŸ™Œ”

Coach Kirian Fitzgibbons head of one of if not the most successful striking program in the world had these kind words to say about my system.
“At CSA, it has been my goal to help my fighters any way I can whether it’s coaching, training partners, proper equipment, management…what ever they need to grow I want to provide it. As a Coach I am always looking at getting better, so I can support my team even better. It’s this mindset without being too “ego centric” 😜 that I think has been a primary factor in my teams growth and success. With that said, I’m incredibly excited to announce that we will be hosting Barry Robinson @iamamsb for the entire month of July to work with the CSA team. Barry is an incredible Boxing Coach who has taken a unique approach to training focusing on helping combat sports athletes in Muaythai, Kickboxing and MMA improve their boxing fundamentals embracing the differences in each combat sport and adapting training to fit each rule set… this progressive approach is rare in traditional western boxing and has made Barry the go to coach for many of the worlds best gyms and athletes. Barry has been brought into to coach at gyms all over the world including Thailand having worked at the legendary Sitsongpeenong Camp coaching Sittichai, Kem and Thongchai, he’s Coached in Holland at the famed Mikes Gym working with the likes of Gokhan Saki, Murthel Groenhart, Artur Kyshenko, Melvin Manhoef, Paul Daly, Bader Harie, etc. Most recently Barry was back in Thailand at Yokkao working with Singdam, Maenchai, Saenchi and Dzhabar to name just a few. I have been a fan of Barry’s for years and when the opportunity came up to have him come back to the States for the 1st time in a long while, I jumped at the chance. Im more than happy to add CSA to the list of gyms that Barry has helped their fight team.”

Way back in 2012 I was given the task of Head Coach by the man Adam Kayoom himself for his upcoming MMA fight against Gregor Gracie. Gracie was being coached by Renzo Gracie at One FC 4 Destiny of Warriors. I was honored to be given such a responsibility so young in my career and as a boxing trainer primarily, but Adam didn’t see me that way. Here is what he had to say about our time preparing for that fight.

“If you ever get to train with Coach Barry Robinson, who is freaking an amazing artist, a scientist, extremely technical and so knowledgeable when it comes to combat conditioning, striking for MMA and Boxing, all I can say is that you are a very lucky person, very lucky! and on top of that he’s great motivator as well a coach.

If it were up to me I wouldn’t tell anyone about Barry and keep him a secret from everyone else. But his name is too good to keep a hold of by yourself! His talent and great work speaks for it self. There are not enough words to describe my appreciation and gratitude for his qualities, attributes, passion, commitment and work ethic in the world of coaching combat athletics. I have traveled and trained with some of the best and Coach Barry Robinson is definitely one of them! PERIOD!

On a personal level he is one very cool and funny human being. You also want a coach that sincerely has your best interest at heart and has your back! When you train with him he somehow makes you want to do you best and go that little bit further. you Honestly give him 100 % he gives you 120 % He knows how to talk to you during camp and the fight, he knows how to gauge you. He has an uncanny ability to do things at the right time for your prep and fight. Things like that only come from a wealth of experience and knowledge in the fight game and from being around other greats.

Like I said there are not enough good words to describe and praise Coach Barry Robinson. You know when you’ve met a great coach, you feel it and you connect on trainer-trainee level and not only you feel it, you appreciate it and grateful for the experience. If you ever get a chance to work with Coach Barry Robinson or better yet have him in your corner, DO IT! For me I know who I will be having with me in my next prep for my fight camp and corner for my next One fc fight. Believe you me, you Will be thanking whoever you pray to for having Coach Barry Robinson in your camp and corner. A great coach told me once…. “Real recognizes Real!”

Adam Shahir Kayoom-One Fc fighter, 2x WPMF World Muay Thai Champion, 2x Cambodian Kickboxing Champion Bjj Blackbelt under Ricardo Liborio of ATT, Ranked 10 Rajadamnern Muay Thai Stadium-Thailand, Bjj Champion and Tea Kwon Do champion.”

In this 2010 Interview with MixFight.NL here is what Melvin Manhoef had to say about training together.
“FIGHTNEWZ.NET: You’ve been working with the American boxing coach Barry Robinson. How much has he helped in terms of developing your hands?

MANHOEF: He has been learning me some good stuff. In the gym the other day I was boxing and he he told me a trick I had to do and I knocked out two people with it, so it was very good.

He has been teaching me real boxing things – for me it’s good. He is giving me more hand speed and making my punches sharper and more correct.

My punches were always good and hard, but now I need less time to throw a punch.

The punches are shorter and powerful – with more power.”

In addition to working with Mixed Martial Artist, Muay Thai Fighters, and world class K1 style Kicboxers, it has also been a pleasure to work with Professional Boxers at the highest level on televised events.

.

For me, the biggest moment of my career so far has been being +300 underdogs going into a UFC Fight in Australia vs Hatsu Hioki. Hioki had never been stopped before and was coming to fight. I recruited Dan Hooker to come train with me in Vietnam. Dan needed a change in his style so with three months until the fight I switched him Southpaw using A Million Styles Boxing Footwork System.

It was a career moment for Dan, Myself, and A Million Styles Boxing.

Case and Point?

AMSB and Barry Robinson are not new to this, we are true to this. I am not going away anytime soon and I will do it my way.

Kind Regards
