Can Conor McGregor resist the urge to dumb down his ability to think vs Mayweather. There has been so much ignorant talk online by fans, media, and sadly enough boxers/coaches about this fight. McGregor and his team could be in this fight in regards to scoring if they just take their time. Attacking Mayweather’s Jab, not smothering himself, always throwing one extra punch in combinations, and overall being patient no matter what should be their game plan. Everything and anything else is simply not smart and a repeat of 49 other competitions.
Floyd Mayweather is the Grand Master of Chess wait I mean boxing. His patience is a discipline. His patience is the ultimate humility of a Martial Artist. He respects his opponents by taking his time, reading their tendencies, and adjusting second by second throughout competition. This usually frustrates many an opponent and force the opponent to fight how he allows them to fight. So most of his opponents end up having to spazz out to establish any type of positive offense.
Conor McGregor needs to be in dominant positions all night long vs Floyd Mayweather. Will Mayweather fall for Conor’s traps? Can Mayweather press the attack safely being physical like he does vs all southpaw’s to break their will? Can Conor avoid moments of laziness? So many questions will be answered when these two athletes meet August 26th.
Floyd Mayweather is very rarely if ever controlled. The moments he is controlled, his tendency is to adjust immediately, regaining control of the fight one second at a time. Conor McGregor has won all of his fights with an extremely advanced control game featuring glove, hand, head, feint, Big Man Game, and many other forms of control. Needless to say Control Is Fun! Which fighter will Control this fight?
The Clinch Game in MMA is different from The Clinch Game in May Thai, Kickboxing, & Boxing. However there is still a thought process and options in each discipline when in a Clinch. Can Conor effectively use elements from a Mixed Martial Arts Clinch in his fight vs Mayweather without fouling?
Below are Boxing Drills that have been advanced to mesh with a Mixed Martial Artist, Muay Thai, or Kickboxers training regimen. Too Often boxing is trained focusing on punches solely. Boxing requires balance, agility, eyes etc etc. Below are a few in fight and training examples of boxing elements that can be directly correlated to a Mixed Martial Artist skill set.
@chingizallazov may be the most complete combat sports fighter walking the earth right now that no one is talking about.
His skill set is very complete. His decision making is damn near without flaw and his technique is Fundamental.
It seems Joseph Parker’s Development has come to a grinding halt. Or worse, has he peaked? I don’t know however I do know watching his last fight it seems his potential has plateaued. That’s unfortunate for him as his competition seems to be improving with each training session and each fight. Specifically, Parker moves pretty well however all his offense is in a straight line with zero glove control game (nota bene. George Foreman). He can defend in circles going to the left or right. However if he has to attack Wilder or Joshua in a straight line as a first option, this could be bad news for him.
Errol Spence is a very sneaky fighter. He comes off as a devastating Puncher solely. However he is just as slick as every other southpaw in the history of boxing. An aggressiveRead More…
